About Me

Brittany Gillespie is a director, filmmaker, and event producer working across theater, film, and large-scale civic events. With a background in theatrical storytelling and independent filmmaking, she brings a strong artistic vision alongside deep production and logistical expertise.

As a director, Brittany is drawn to bold, deeply human stories and femme-driven narratives. Her work spans farce, sci-fi, mockumentary, magical realism, documentary, and classical theater, often using dark humor, physicality, and genre-play to explore power, identity, and collective action.

Her theater work has been seen with Stage Left Theatre, American Theater Company, Pride Films & Plays, Millbrook Playhouse, Theater at Monmouth, Crowd Theater, and the Alice Gerstenberg Festival. She co-founded Leafy Greens Productions during the pandemic, directing short films that have screened nationally, with Highbrow winning Audience Favorite at A Night of Misfit Film Festival and Blindspot earning Best Editing at the 48 Hour Film Festival.

Brittany is also an experienced event producer and currently serves as Associate Director of Events at Active Transportation Alliance, where she produces events ranging from intimate advocacy gatherings to Bike the Drive, one of Chicago’s largest annual public events.

Whether she’s in rehearsal, on set, or producing in the public sphere, she leads with collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to joyful disruption.
